Keeping the ear dry

This has been the scene in the tub over the past week... a lump of cotton Smothered with Vaseline, to keep any moisture from getting inside our little man's ear! It's a yucky mess, and the first couple of times I gave him a bath, I freaked out way more than I did when we took him to the ER! I have been more worried about damaging his hearing because of a bath than I am over it healing on his own. If the little guy could keep the PB&J in his sandwich and out of his hair, then I think, maybe, I'd be a little less stressed out!

Outside of the tub, he's doing great, you would never know anything is wrong! The biggest frustration is keeping him inside now that the weather has Finally turned around. He won't keep the ear covered... Band-Aid, beanie hat, nothing... and it's been breezy, so I have been keeping him inside as much as I can. Geez... what's going to happen when they grow up and have "bigger" injuries?! I'm going to be a mess!

So, the true test comes tomorrow... his 10 day recheck! We are all looking forward to this doctors office visit! Here's to hoping that his eardrum has healed itself and we will not be scheduling a visit with an ENT next week! Geez... they really know how to tug at your heart, don't they....  

A Snow Day

Finally... after Much anticipation, we were able to carry out our first Snow Day with the boys! I think the last time we spent a day in the snow, Clayton was only about 3 or 4 months old, so I guess that wouldn't really count! Clayton loved watching Mommy sled down the hill backwards! Not exactly how I intended! 

Cole had a great time hauling snow balls around in his "Brrm-Brrm"!

And once Daddy gave Clayton a hand up the last little bit of the hill, he was all set to sled by himself! 

Even Cole loved the sled ride with Daddy! 

Mommy - backwards... again! A split second after this, I managed to wipe-out Clayton (see his hand on the left) big time! Guess all the "get out of the road" warnings didn't quite catch him in time! 

Building a snow man... 

I found this squeezed lemon while the boys were building their snow man. Hhmmm... I wonder if we just missed Grandpa... :) 

This... is our snow man!  

The boys played for a while with a group of kids about their age while we were there. They were crawling through a little tunnel, so Daddy dug a couple of more short tunnels while we were there. 

"Mom... Guck. Mom... Guck." In English - "Mom... Stuck. Mom... Stuck."

And as is tradition... on the way home, Daddy filled up the truck bed with a load of snow to take home with us. Grandma and Papa were surprised to have snow balls hit their kitchen window when we got back to Modesto! 

Such a cool snow plow... the boys wanted a ride in it! 

The next afternoon, the boys played in the snow that we hauled home. It lasted through a second night before it finally all melted. So much fun, we can't wait to go again! Maybe next time... we can spend the night and hopefully see some snow flakes fall! 

Cole was not afraid of the sled ride with Daddy!

I love how he raises his little arms in the air after the ride comes to an end!

Technology has definately advanced when we're looking at photos on a laptop, vs. taking home your prints covered in finger prints and chocolate cake!

Guess it was just too much for these two! I love how they're sleeping in the same position! Too cute...

After Uncle's snooze... Clayton talked him into a motorcycle ride! Hang on tight!

We hope you all had a great Labor Day... filled with friends, family and fun!

Thank you, Grammy & Grandpa! We can't wait for next year!

Cole turns 1!!

Almost like he knew it was his day, Cole woke up with a smile, although, this is not really much different than any other day! Over the past year, this little man has brought a whole new dimention to our family! It is so hard to believe that he is already One Year Old! From the 4 lb 7 oz tiny thing he was, to the bundle of personality that he is today, we are So thrilled to have him as a part of our lives! He and Clayton are growing so much and their relationship is changing by the day. It is incredible to watch them begin to play - and fight! - together every day. Cole just wants to be like his big brother, and do everything that he does!

We celebrated Cole's birthday with Grandma, Papa, Auntie Anna, Abby & Emily, who came to the house for dinner and cake... and gifts, of course.

"Whoa! A train?! Cool!"

This train would soon become his stepping stool... helping him climb onto the coffee table, couch and chairs! Oh... great!

Auntie Anna & the girls got Cole denim diapers! So cute!

Clayton - after 15 minutes of discussion and deliberation - picked out the Tonka loader as his gift to Cole.

Once Cole was able to be more active, he's been ready to roll! He loves to be wherever the action is and he's always ready to play. Clayton is growing into his big brother (a.k.a. Little Daddy) role and wants to help out!

"Open Up!"

We had a blast at the Disney on Ice show in Stockton...

Cars, The Little Mermaid, The Lion King and Tinkerbell were the features this year.

Clayton & Emily REALLY wanted to touch the ice... but this is as close as we could get, so a picture in front of it will have to do!
