Can your broom do this?

Earlier this morning, I got a text from my friend Morgen, with the following photo of her broom, standing upright in her kitchen.

She mentioned something about an extra gravitational pull today, and said that her broom was standing on it's own for 5 minutes!

Sure, I thought, I can't even see the top of the handle, I bet she's got it tied to the top of her fridge. So... I gave it a try with our broom... in our kitchen...

Sure enough... It worked!! Our broom has been standing here for over an hour! We left it and went outside to play, came back in and it's there waiting for us!

My mom is the proud owner of two brooms... both of which are standing in her kitchen!

In the search for answers, I turned to Mr. Google... and found every answer from this happens on occasion when the planets align to it's just a balancing act.

Whatever the case may be, I can honestly say that I have never even considered attempting to stand my broom on its own. Maybe I'll give it a shot each time I use it from here on out, just to see.

So what I'd like to know is... can your broom do this?

I tried it with my really old, splayed and cruddy broom on my even older and totally uneven floors, and it worked!

Then I went to snopes and burst my bubble. :( http://www.snopes.com/science/equinox.asp

Still a fun trick, though!
