I am thankful for Music.
This post comes late in the day, but sometimes it is late in the day when you realize something you didn't even realize you were thankful for. Today it's music.
Sure, I listen to my share of music - Kids Tunes, Raffi, Veggie Tales, Disney Channel - but, lately the decision on where the dial lands hasn't been on a channel of my chosing.
Tonight, I attended an evening meeting about 20 minutes from home. The radio was all mine. It took about 10 minutes before I realized it, but I wasn't going to let the radio time I had left go to waste. After a bit of channel surfing, I landed on XM Channel 58 - Prime Country.
Within a few minutes, Tracy Byrd's Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous came on the air. Before I knew it, I had the sound cranked up and I was singing at the top of my lungs.
Then came Reba's One Promise Too Late.
On my way home after the meeting, I was on a roll again...

Billy Ray's Achy Breaky Heart
and
Mary Chapin Carpenter's I Feel Lucky
Songs I hadn't heard in years, but the lyrics were there, without even having to think about them.
And so were the memories. The jokes and laughs we made over these songs while I was growing up.
First time I ever tasted a Moon Pie. And that's only the beginning.
I am thankful for the music tonight. The music that had me singing screeching and laughing at the same time. I am so thankful for those memories, and am excited to create new ones with our boys as they grow.
